Guide to Artwork
Submission
To ensure your signage meets your expectations in terms of quality and detail, it is crucial to submit your artwork according to our specifications. This guide will provide you with all the necessary information to prepare your artwork for submission.
File Format
We accept artwork in the following digital formats:
Vector Files: Adobe Illustrator (.AI), PDF (.PDF), EPS (.EPS)
Raster Files: Photoshop (.PSD), JPEG (.JPEG), TIFF (.TIFF), PNG (.PNG)
For the best results, vector files are preferred as they can be resized without loss of quality, which is essential for large format prints.
Resolution
High-resolution files are required for all printed materials. Please ensure your artwork meets the following resolution standards:
For Large Prints: A minimum of 300 DPI at 1:10 scale.
For Smaller Items: A minimum of 300 DPI at actual size.
Color Specifications
Color Mode: All artwork should be submitted in CMYK color mode to ensure color accuracy in the print.
Pantone Colors: If specific colors are required, please provide Pantone codes. While we strive to match Pantone colors closely, slight variations may occur due to different material bases.
Bleed and Margin
Bleed: Please include a bleed of at least 5mm (0.2 inches) on all sides of your artwork. This is essential to ensure that no unprinted edges occur in the final product.
Safe Margin: Keep all critical elements (text, logos, and complex graphics) at least 10mm (0.4 inches) away from the edge of your design to avoid being cut off or looking crowded.
Text and Fonts
Converting Text to Outlines: To prevent any issues with font substitutions, please convert all text to outlines.
Font Size: The minimum recommended font size for readability on large signage is 10 points at actual size.
File Naming Convention
Please name your files clearly to help us identify your project:
Format: [OrderNumber][YourCompanyName]_[ItemNumber].extension
Example: 0123_SignsBase_ItemA.ai
Submitting Your Files
Files can be submitted via:
Email: If your file size is under 10MB, you can send it directly to our artwork team at design@signsbase.co.uk.
File Transfer Service: For files larger than 10MB, please use a file transfer service such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, or Google Drive and share the link with us via email.
Proofing and Approval
Digital Proof: Once we receive your file, we will create a digital proof and email it to you for approval. This proof will illustrate how your design will look when produced.
Approval: Review the proof carefully for any errors or required changes. Approval of the digital proof is required before production can commence. Please note that once approved, any errors noticed are the responsibility of the client.
